Bauer Media also publish a large range of different types of magazine, such as sports, fashion and gardening. Some of the titles are well known such as Heat and Mojo and other niche titles such as Commercial Fleet and Country Walking. Bauer Media also have brands within TV and radio, such as Absolute Radio and 4 Music. By having a range of different magazines published by this one company it allows for a wide selection of audiences, from the youth to the elderly.
Bauer Media publish multiple music magazines besides Kerrang!, including Mojo and Q. By publishing more than one music magazines it gives the company the chance to create more profit by reaching a larger amount of people who are interested in other genres of music. However, Q and Kerrang! differ only slightly. Q allows for more content and a wider range of genres featured within one magazine.
Bauer Media would not need to publish my magazine as they already publish Kerrang! and Q magazine. By publishing my magazine too it would provide too much similar content within the company. However, taking this information into account it will make me think about how to make the content of my magazine different to that which already coincides within these magazines.

Rock Sound magazine is independently published by a member of their own team. however they are also digitally published by Sonic Publishing, who allow small independent magazines to be published online without need of backing by a major publishing company.
By using an independent publisher, a magazine company gets to keep more of the profit made by the magazine. This may be a better idea to use for my magazine instead of sending it to a publishing company which may already publish a magazine like mine. It will allow the content of my magazine to not be altered by what a company already does and doesn't have.
How will this research affect my ideas?
This research has shown me that it may be best for my magazine to be independently published as most large publishing companies already have titles like mine. however this will mean that I wouldn't have to change my content to fit that which the company is missing. I can include content similar content to that of preexisting magazines but still make my magazine unique.
